We always welcome friends and families to visit and attend our special events. OakRidge Nursing Center is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility located in the beautiful community of Durant, Oklahoma.

Oakridge is a home-from-home and my father is very happy there. The activity lady is a credit to the Home, the videos posted during lockdown were so lovely and reassuring when we couldn't get in to visit. The staff are kind and caring and it means so much to us as a family knowing our father is safe and well cared for in Oakridge. When it arrives in our email box we will print it and hand-deliver it to your loved one.
This also has a powerful impact on the healing process of those patients involved in some type of rehabilitation. We also strongly encourage families to participate with the residents in various activities. Our person–centred approach to care means that each resident is treated as an individual with respect, dignity and confidentiality. Each resident will have a named nurse and individual care plan which details their specific needs as well as recording any activities that they enjoy together with any cultural or religious beliefs to support their care.
Is there any private space available to use?
We recommend visiting from 8 am until 8 pm, after that time we lock our doors and most residents are asleep. Please call in advance for after-hours visits to ensure access. Our residents are encouraged to personalise their own rooms to feel at home. Personalized Nursing
As with hotels, the cost of living in a care home varies widely according to its location, the size of your room or suite, and the facilities on offer. There is often a substantial difference between fees charged to those who can afford the costs themselves and those who receive help from their Local Authority. A majority of homes aim to cater for both, but some target only one or the other.
But also because planning ahead may be needed to ensure that where you live now is ‘age proofed’, and that if you wish to consider moving, you have good information and advice to help you understand all your options. With a few exceptions, accommodation in a care home cannot be bought or rented like retirement housing. Think of them more like full-board hotel accommodation with 24 hour care available.
From visiting in person myself a few years ago to telephone calls and skype calls all contact with staff has been fabulous, they take tome to chat and update me on whats happening with my Daddy. The time and effort the staff take making my Daddys room look amazing and include him in activities is just wonderful. Physicians generally see patients upon admission and once every 30 days thereafter. However, our nursing professionals are in constant contact with all of the physicians that visit the facility. Some insurance companies require that physicians visit more often. Returning our residents to their highest level of function is our main focus.
Also known as Care & Repair agencies, are local non-profit organisations set up to help older people think about, plan, finance and organise work on their homes. These services tackle smaller repair jobs, including installing safety & security devices. They are provided by many local Age UKs as well as other organisations. EAC sees itself, and this website, as one source of ‘housing options’ information and advice for older people and their families. But there are many other organisations providing valuable services, both locally and nationally.
